Behind the Shiny New Brand

My goal has always been to help businesses, no matter how new or small, stand out. For the past four years, I’ve worked to build a brand that’s known to produce high end websites for customers who believe in the value of having an exceptional online presence. And don’t worry – I plan to keep doing that!

As a small business owner, the ride has been both fulfilling and exciting. But, with the personal and professional growth came a lot of eye opening realizations. To fit the vision that I’ve molded and remolded over time, I’ve decided to leap into 2022 as a brand new entity.

DelMar Experiences, LLC puts an emphasis on what I believe to be what makes every product and brand successful – and that’s customer experience. Your experience with my team remains a priority, along with the experiences that we will continue to improve for your website visitors.

Thank you for trusting me as your web developer, and cheers to the new year!

Recognizing Millennials on the Move with CoVaBiz

Each year, CoVaBiz magazine chooses 30 local young professionals to be recognized as Coastal Virginia’s “Millennials on the Move”. The magazine holds an online nomination period where colleagues nominate a millennial (or millennials were invited to nominate themselves). Honorees are then chosen by a panel of local professionals. Focus is given on identifying individuals who exemplify success in their professions while also working within the community to advance the region as a whole. Our Chief Creative had the honor of serving on the panel of judges in this year’s CoVaBiz Millennials on the Move. – 2019 panel of judges for Millennials on the Move: Myles Henderson, meteorologist for WTKR News 3; Kerri Reilly, director of marketing and development for Boyer’s Diamonds; Tim Ryan, president of Arcphor and director of the Greater Williamsburg Business Incubator, Launchpad; Maria Soliven, chief creative at DelMar New Media and voted Young Business Person of the Year in the 2018 CoVa BIZ Best Of Business (BOB) Awards; Angela Blue, editor-in-chief of CoVa BIZ.

Every nomination this year was nothing short of inspiring. From all of us at DelMar, congratulations to all of the 2019 honorees. Read about the winners on the official CoVaBiz article.

Night for the Fight: Being Part of the Story

“The stories that get told the most, are the ones that you are a part of.” – Eric Newman, Chief Play Officer

Every year, Roc Solid Foundation’s Night for the Fight presents a powerful theme. This year, it was all about the story. Upon arrival, about a dozen artists welcomed guests, swiftly sketching each group of attendees that would pause & smile to let them illustrate the moment. The entrance to the the main event area was a colorful tunnel that illustrated the story of Mylo’s family – a five-year-old boy who is currently fighting pediatric cancer.

Meet Mylo’s Family

The main presentation revolved around a story that 7-year-old Lilah told about her family and her brother Mylo who has been fighting cancer his whole life. Watch a piece of her story below:

Our Part of the Story

One of our favorite things about Night For the Fight is that every year there’s an element of surprise – an unforgettable moment for all guests. This year, they really made us feel like we were part of their story.

At one point, all guests who donated money to sponsor Roc Solid Ready Bags got the opportunity to actually pack a Ready Bag. We were given an inspirational card to sign and an empty Ready Bag.

We then moved to a table filled with everything that a family might need for their unexpected hospital stay, and began to pack one of each item into the bag. It was absolutely moving and humbling to know that the bag in our hands, the cards that we signed, and the items that we packed were all going to help a family during one of the most devastating moments of their lives.

Towards the end of the event, they showed us one last video clip that concluded Lilah’s story for the night. In this video, we see a few more of Lilah’s sketches, and then – one by one, the sketches of all of the guests that were drawn earlier that night!

The animation’s message was powerful. Roc Solid is not just an organization that was built to help families like Mylo’s – it’s a community. Roc Solid is an ever-growing community that builds hope for families and lets them know that they are not alone in the fight. The relationships that are created within this community are life-long and impactful. The families, the leaders of Roc Solid, the volunteers, sponsors, and guests from their events are all part of this community. It was a reminder that no matter how little we think our part is, we are all part of the story – and that story did not end when we walked out of the doors at the end of the night.

Countdown to Roc Solid’s Night for the Fight

DelMar New Media & Sivils IT are excited to be corporate sponsors of Roc Solid Foundation’s Night for the Fight this year. Roc Solid Foundation is a nonprofit organization that builds hope for families fighting pediatric cancer by building play sets and distributing ready bags* to families at CHKD.

Roc Solid Foundation has quickly become part of the Sivils IT & DelMar family since our introduction. We are proud to have worked alongside the organization in the design & development of their award-winning website, through website support, by producing multimedia assets for various web-related and event-related marketing efforts, and even through volunteering opportunities.

Our president & founder, Allan Sivils, has been a board member of the organization since 2015, and our Chief Creative, Maria Soliven, has worked alongside Roc Solid Foundation since 2015.

This year’s Night for the Fight will be held at the Ted Constant Center on Friday, May 3rd, 2019. We’re counting down the days to the big night, and we hope you’ll join us next year. Stay tuned for photos!

A CoVaBiz Shoutout

Earlier this month, our Chief Creative & Co-Founder, Maria, was published in an article about how to make the most out of a LinkedIn profile. Her advice was featured in the April Edition of CoVaBiz Magazine. Read her advice below:

Show enthusiasm. It’s important to present a professional image on LinkedIn for your network of business connections, but make sure that your personality and sense of human connection don’t get lost in the process. Positive connections are sparked and fostered by the sincerity and enthusiasm that you demonstrate through your interactions. Don’t just write that you’re passionate about your job—show your passion by joining groups and engaging in thoughtful conversation that highlights your unique value. Whether you are connecting with industry leaders, searching for jobs or contributing to a discussion, make sure positivity and enthusiasm are the foundation of your actions!
